1. Career Influences

There is not a single person or two that influenced my entrepreneurial pursuit. I was always an independent spirit and hard worker. I wanted to have my own private practice and as I completed my training I visited multiple successful cosmetic surgeons and learned from their experience.

2. Biggest Career Success

I came to the United States with an MD degree and $5,000. Through hard work I completed my required training in general surgery and plastic surgery and became board certified in plastic surgery. During my initial private practice, I covered 6 hospital emergency rooms and worked long hours. I saved enough money to be able to build a 3,300 square foot, AAAASF accredited, beautiful  surgery center at the heart of Tyson’s corner in Northern Virginia. This enabled me to develop a busy cosmetic surgery practice that is high quality, very safe and maintains excellent privacy for my patients.

3. Recent Lessons Learned

The world of cosmetic surgery has changed dramatically in the last 5 years due to harsh economic  realities, increased competition and the Internet. Consequently, I developed expertise in a niche surgery that has made my practice unique – butt augmentation. I also perform the full range of other cosmetic surgeries as well. Additionally, beyond successful  word of mouth marketing , I am concentrating on Internet marketing – SEO, local directories, Google Adwords and social media since printed media has become very inefficient.

4. What Inspires and Motivates

After 25 years, performing cosmetic surgery still excites me as much as it did in my early years. I strive for perfection, learn new procedures, and have built a surgery center where I can give the best service to our patients without external pressures like cost and time.

5. Share a Leadership Story

Patients’ care, quality of service and respect for patient privacy are the center of my professional life. I am available 24/7 to my patients and they have my cell phone number. I accommodate my schedule to my patients and see them on weekends if they can’t be seen during regular office hours. No patients’ information is given out without permission and  there is a private entrance in the office for patients who request complete anonymity. Twice a week I have office staff meetings to assure that everyone understands the surgical schedule, to insure all supplies are available for surgery and to validate that all safety issues are covered including medical clearance by internists and other necessary specialists.

6. Your Top Two

A TV screen in each patient’s room with before and after pictures to educate them about potential additional procedures that might be beneficial.  Financial assistance services including ‘Care Credit’ and ‘No Patient Left Behind,’ so patients can finance their surgery.

7. About Shlomo

Dr. Shlomo Widder is originally from Israel and has lived in the US since 1981. He is a U.S. citizen and board certified in Plastic Surgery. He completed his Plastic Surgery training in 1987 at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals. He is a member of the ASPS and ASAPS which are the biggest organizations for plastic surgery. He has been in private practice in Northern Virginia for 25 years.  He performs surgeries at his AAAASF accredited surgery center located at the heart of Tyson’s corner, Vienna, in Northern Virginia. His practice is dedicated to cosmetic surgery with special emphasis on buttock augmentation using implants.
